This Week's Need to Know!

This Week's Need to Know!

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “CHRIST – His Message, Our Mission”   Romans 15:14-16
Taught by:  Pastor Tim Boger

Shepherding a Child's Heart: Sunday’s topic will be: Embracing Biblical Methods: Appeal to Conscience, Life of Communication, and the Discipline Process. This class will be led by Pastor Aaron. (Classroom 1)
Young adults - Mark: Robbie Mays, Isaac Brady, and Branden Zembower will be leading a discussion through the gospel of Mark to help us understand what God's Word says and how it applies to our lives.  (Church Conference Room)
Theology of Technology: Technology is the most rapidly shifting area of society. The iPhone was first released 15 years ago but has dramatically changed our relationships, society, and even the way we spend our personal time. New technology, new devices, and new apps seem to spring up every day. So, what are we to do? For 8 weeks, we will be looking at the technology that is changing our lives, its benefits, and downfalls, and most importantly how we as Christians need to respond in a way that honors an eternal God.  This class will be led by Pastor Stuart.  (Classroom 3)
Summer Psalms with the elders: This week’s class will be on Psalm 23 taught by Pastor Tim Boger.  (Sanctuary)

Tonight Thursday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m. all men will be invited to meet at the garage of Dave Frankenberger (1930 Long Run Road, Mill Hall).  Men, grab a chair and come prepared to talk shop and tackle life’s challenges, while building on the strengths of your brothers in Christ.

The young adults and families are invited out to the Redcay’s (138 Main Street, Beech Creek) after church this week for lunch and time together. Lunch will be provided.  Please contact Pastor Stuart at 717-517-6523 if you have any questions!

Youth Group is being moved to Sunday Night’s from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This is for BOTH Middle School and High School students. Due to this change, some of the youth events in the future change shift. Be on the look out for updates from Pastor Stuart regarding these changes.

Big Woods Children’s and Youth Ministry will have students move up a grade at the end of the summer. On Sunday, September 4, we will be welcoming students into their new Sunday School classrooms and into Navigate Youth Ministry.

Join us on Wednesday, September 7 at 6:30 p.m. for our next Prayer Gathering. This prayer gathering will be every other Wednesday and will be one of the ways we can bear one another’s burdens as we seek to faithfully follow Jesus together.  We will gather at 5:30 p.m. for a potluck.

Please join us as we gather for a time of fellowship and prayer on Saturday, September 10 at 9:00 a.m. here at the church.

The BWBC Membership Class is a four-week class that is scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 11, during the Sunday School hour and will meet in the Conference Room.  If you are interested in attending this class, please call the church office at 570-893-8274 or complete a Communication Card (located in the back of the chairs in the sanctuary) and place it in one of the offering boxes at the back of the sanctuary.

Here at Big Woods, one of the ways we seek to keep our growing body small is through home groups. Home groups are small groups of people meeting in homes, encouraging one another in their walk with Christ by talking about the Bible and praying for one another. Like last year, home groups will meet every other week. We plan to start meeting the week of September 11th.  Please sign up [by clicking] here or by placing your name on the sign-up sheet in the back of the sanctuary. There is a work day coming up on September 17th here at Big Woods Bible Church. The work day will start at 8 a.m. with a breakfast, followed by various work projects throughout the church. Watch for another email coming shortly with more details regarding this day! Please RSVP here so that we know how many to expect.

In Ephesians 4:11, we learn that God has given the church teachers to build up the body of Christ. Teaching lab exists to help us find those whom God has given to our body. If you would like to learn about teaching and have the opportunity to teach in a setting that provides feedback to see if God has gifted you to serve in this way, join us Monday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m. here at the church in Classroom 1.
