Transformed Lives Transforming a Community
Thank you for checking out our website. We hope you sense the excitement of what God is doing at Big Woods! Almost 40 years ago a handful of students from Lock Haven University met together to worship God, study the Bible, and build relationships with one another. That small group has grown to become a thriving church filled with many people impacting our community.
Big Woods is a warm, vibrant, and caring group of believers who are passionate about the Lord Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us as we worship, celebrate and fellowship together.
Our service is Sunday mornings at 9:00am and Sunday School for all ages begins at 10:45am If you have questions or would like more info, we encourage your inquiry by e-mail to info@bigwoods.org.

Our Beliefs
1. The Scriptures
The Bible is divinely inspired, serving as the authoritative and infallible guide for faith, life, and practice, and is the standard by which all beliefs and actions are measured.
2. God
There is one living and true God, the Creator and Ruler of all, who is infinite in holiness and perfection, and eternally exists as three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully and equally God.
3. Man
Humanity is created in God’s image as male and female, reflecting God’s good design and affirming the goodness of gender. Through voluntary sin, all people have fallen and are in need of salvation, yet each person retains dignity and worth as a bearer of God’s image.
4. Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life, died as a substitute for sinners, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return in glory to judge and redeem.
5. Salvation
Salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; it is by grace through faith, not by works, and results in eternal life and security for the believer.
6. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is fully divine, exalts Christ, convicts of sin, regenerates, sanctifies, and empowers believers, bestowing spiritual gifts for service and guiding the church in worship and mission.
7. The Church
The church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers, with local congregations practicing baptism and the Lord’s Supper, committed to worship, discipleship, fellowship, and spreading the gospel.
8. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
Baptism is the immersion of a believer as a testimony of faith, symbolizing the believer’s union with Christ, while the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice, observed by believers as an act of obedience and remembrance.
