This Week’s Need to Know – 12/06/2018

Begin now inviting your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to our Christmas Eve service.  The theme this year will come from Matthew 1:21.  Invite cards will be available in the church lobby or in the pockets of the auditorium chairs.

Sunday’s Text: Philippians 2:12-18

The Women’s Ministry at Big Woods will be hosting their annual Christmas party on Saturday, December 15, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm here at the church.  It will be a potluck, so please bring a dish to share. We will be playing some games that involve some gifts as well, so if you can, bring a wrapped gift less than $5 that will help the gift table.  Also, we will be collecting food donations to give some families for their holiday meal. There are angels in the welcome area on the Christmas easel with a food item listed. Please take one or more and purchase that item. The items may be placed in the wrapped box at the easel. The deadline for donations is December 21.  Thanks to everyone for their participation.

Our first baptism service will be held on Sunday, December 16.  We have several candidates that will be baptized on that day.  If you have not been baptized yet, and are interested, there is still time.  Please contact one of the pastors or elders, or you can contact the church office.

Each year at this time we take a special offering for the International Mission Board (IMB) called the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  These funds go directly to international mission works around the world to help with the spread of the Gospel.  Please make sure you pick up an envelope and pray how God would use your gift to help further the cause of the Gospel.

December is upon us and that means finals will soon be here for Lock Haven students.  We will continue with our semi-annual Midnight Pancake outreach on December 12.  We need all sorts of volunteers.  We need people to serve, people to set up and clean up, people to make pancakes, and even people to just sit and start conversations with those that come and eat.  This is a big event on campus and grows every year.  If you’re not a night owl, that’s ok.  We’ll have a team making pancakes starting at 9:00 PM as well.   We also need donations of just add water pancake mixes as well as syrup bottles.  A donation box will be in the lobby to collect these.  Thanks for your prayers and support.

It’s not too late to be part of our Christ Eve Choir.  Practice is on Sundays at 4:30 PM for kids and 5:00 PM for adults.  For more information, contact Laura Leslie at or 814-441-2207.
