This Week’s Need to Know – 12/03/2020

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:16-17

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: Romans 2:12-29How Does God Judge?
Taught By: Pastor Tim

Due to the recent spike in COVID cases, more of our ministry volunteers have either come in close contact with someone with COVID and had to stay home while others have decided not to attend our services out of personal precaution.  This has led to a strain on ministry volunteers that we believe in the long run would become unsustainable for those that are currently serving.  Because of this, we are putting a pause on our Sunday school ministry for the time being.  We will continue to gather for our worship services at 9:00 AM, and Children’s Church and Nursery will still be available for this service.  Make sure that this Sunday, if you are a member of Big Woods, you stay for the special business meeting that will follow the morning worship service.

We have entered December and are officially in the Christmas Season.  This is a great time to revisit what the Bible teaches us about Jesus’ birth.  Desiring God Ministries has a great devotional series called Solid Joys that takes you through a daily devotional about Jesus during the Christmas Season.  You can either make it part of your personal devotional life or use it to lead family devotions as well.  Click here to visit the Desiring God website and scroll down to find the Solid Joys devotions.  You can also click the appropriate link below to download the app to your phone or device.

We will be holding our annual Christmas Eve service on Thursday, December 24, at 6:00 PM.  Invite your family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors to join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and the good news it brought to the world.  Our focus will be on John 1:1, and how The Word Became Flesh.  Due to our current need to social distance, we are asking that our regular attenders and church members leave room in the auditorium for our community guests.  Chairs will be setup in the Multi-Purpose Room, and the service will be streamed there.  If you are not able to attend, you can stream the Christmas Eve Service via our Facebook page.

Lottie Moon was appointed a missionary to China July 7, 1873. Her influence led to the establishment of the Woman’s Missionary Union and inspired other missions pioneers to join her on the field. Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God. There are envelopes on the table in the back of the auditorium if you would like to contribute to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering during the month of December. Please write “Lottie Moon” on the memo line of your check.  You can also give online by clicking here.  Use the box marked “Lottie Moon” to designate your gift.
