This Week’s Need to Know – 11/05/2020

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:16-17

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: Romans 1:18-25The Righteousness and Wrath of God
Taught By: Pastor Tim

There will be a special business meeting on Sunday, December 6, following the morning service and before the Sunday school hour.  There are two items that will receive votes at this meeting.  One, there are proposed updates to our church bylaws.  These updates were submitted at the most recent annual meeting on November 1.  A copy of these proposed bylaws changes can be found at the back desk in the auditorium.  The purpose of these changes is to bring them into alignment with our growing needs.  Questions about these can be directed to me at or you can call the church office at (570) 893-8274.

Two new elder candidates have been nominated as well – Bill Newman and Matt McDermit.  A secret ballot vote will be taken for them at this meeting.

If you are a member of the church, you are eligible to vote on these two items.  If you will not be able to be in attendance, please contact me for more information on how to cast your ballot for the elder candidates.

We are experiencing growth in our Children’s Church ministry on Sunday mornings.  We are going to need to make two classes available – one for younger kids and another for the older kids.  We are looking for volunteers to help us teach and help with these classes.  We require two adults in classrooms at all times to provide a safe environment for our kids.  A background check is required from all adults working with kids as well.  All curriculum, supplies, snacks, etc. are provided.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Pastor Josh at

Our next Women’s Ministry Prayer Meeting will be on Saturday, November 14, at 9:00 AM.  Come out for a sweet time of fellowship and prayer.  Light refreshments will be served.

We will have a baby dedication during our morning service on November 22.  If you are interested in participating, please contact the church office at (570) 893-8274 or

We’re just a couple of Sundays from our Operation Christmas Child deadline.  Boxes must be turned in no later than November 15, 2020.  If you would like to make a box, there’s still plenty of time.  Just use a regular sized shoebox or you can pick up a box at the desk in the back of the auditorium.  Click here to learn more about how you can help spread the Gospel to kids around the world by using a shoebox.  You can also help cover the shipping costs by designating your gift to Operation Christmas Child.  Each box is approximately $9 to ship.  Thank you for supporting this wonderful cause.

Please make sure to reserve the back entrance parking area for those with handicap stickers.  We have several people who need access to those spots to be able to get into the church safely.  If you ever have any issues with parking on Sundays or need help getting to a spot or to the building, please make sure to look for one of our deacons who are outside on parking duty, and they will get you the help you need.  Thank you for helping us with this on Sunday mornings.
