This Week’s Need to Know – 07/21/2017

There I was, a young child sitting in the dirt on a hot afternoon, listening to a story of a man the teacher called, Jesus.  She told me this man loved me, and wanted me to be with Him forever.  I had never heard anything like this before in my life, and deep inside my heart, I knew I wanted to know more.

The words above sound like story I would have heard when I was younger about missionaries around the world sharing the Gospel with someone far away in an unknown village.  But the sad reality is this: tomorrow there are kids who may hear about Jesus, the Gospel, and His love for them for the very first time.  These kids live in America.  These kids live in our community.  Please lift up our VBS in your prayers.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in hearts.  Pray for all who are involved to communicate the Gospel clearly and to demonstrate the love of Christ in every word and action.

This Sunday (7/23) is our next Baptism Service.  The baptism service will take place following the second service.  We will meet at the Johnson’s river lot located at Riverview Park.  Join us as we celebrate with two people who will be publicly identifying as believers and demonstrating their desire to honor Jesus with their lives.

Next Sunday, we will be praying over our Guatemala Mission Team.  They will once again be headed to The Learning Center in Cruz Blanca to work with the children there.  Please continue to lift up the team in your prayers.  You can bless the team by donating Sharpie Markers (all colors needed) to use while they are there for crafts.  We will leave the markers with The Learning Center so they can continue to use them as they help with the education of the children there.

Our next Back Yard BBQ will be hosted by Pastor Aaron and Brianna Batdorf on Monday, July 24th, at 6PM.  Bring something to cook on the grill for yourself and a side to share with others.  Get their address or directions by looking them up on our online church directory.
