This Week’s Need to Know – 07/26/2018

This Sunday, we continue through our study on the churches of Revelation.  Our next church is the church at Philadelphia (lovingly referred to within the church office as the church at Philly).  The church at Philadelphia is one of two churches which had no negative remarks.  Last week was about a church we did not want to emulate.  This week’s church has much for us, and all churches to learn.  While things were not easy for believers in Philadelphia, they remained faithful, and Jesus praised them for this faithfulness.  Because of their faithfulness, they held a good reputation in their community in the middle of great trials and persecution.  Make sure to take some time to prepare for this class by reading Revelation 3:7-13.

This Sunday evening, the 2018 Guatemala Mission team will begin their trip down to The Learning Center in Cruz Blanca.  We are sending 24 adults and youth to lead a VBS as well as help with construction projects on their campus.  We’ll also take time to visit with families in their homes and hopefully encourage teachers and leaders in The Learning Center.  Please lift this team up in your prayers next week that God will keep them safe, healthy, and filled with His Spirit as they minister to kids and adults in Guatemala.

Our next BWBC Back Yard BBQ will be Monday night, July 30, at 6:00 o’clock at the home of Tim and Erin Owens in Mill Hall.  All paper/plastic products (plates, napkins, cups, utensils, etc.) will be provided by the host along with condiments, drinks, and a grill for cooking.  You’ll need to bring your own meat, a side dish to share, and it is recommended you bring your own chair as well.  This is not a “Rain or Shine” event.  If there is rain, the BBQ will be canceled.

Thank you to all who have brought in or are planning on bringing in items for our Blessing Baskets!  We can’t wait to share these with our community during our Family Movie Night.  We’re also excited about opportunities to create relationships with the goal of sharing the good news of Jesus’ love with our neighbors.  We’ve set a big goal of 100 Blessing Baskets.  If you would like to donate, there are Blessing Basket Shopping Lists located at the front of the sanctuary and downstairs in the Fellowship Area.  You can also make a $15 donation designated for VBS.  The family movie night will be on Friday, August 10.  More info is available on our Facebook Event page.
