This Week’s Need to Know – 07/20/2018

Each year when we adjust our clocks, we’re reminded to change the batteries in our smoke detectors, and test them.  It is important to our health and safety that they function properly to warn us of impending danger.  We want them ringing loudly and clearly if they detect the faintest sign of smoke in the air.  Just like smoke detectors emit a warning sound, Jesus was sending a stark warning to the church in Sardis.  At one point Jesus admonishes them to wake up!  Join us on Sunday morning at 9:30 as we learn about the church we never want to be.

We are excited to hear from Luke and Julianna Brady about the ministry opportunity God has called them to in Honduras.  In just a few weeks, they will be packing up and moving to teach in an elementary school called Honors Academy.  They will share more about this opportunity in both services, and the elders will pray for God’s blessing, protection, and provision for them in the second service.

Thank you to all who have brought in or are planning on bringing in items for our blessing baskets!  We can’t wait to share these with our community during our Family Movie Night.  We’re also excited about opportunities to create relationships with the goal of sharing the good news of Jesus’ love with our neighbors.  We’ve set a big goal of 100 blessing baskets.  I hope you’ll be able to help us.  If you’d like to donate, you can shop for the items yourself, or make a $15 donation designated for VBS.
