There will be a Red Cross blood drive at Big Woods on Tuesday, February 23, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  There are just a few spots still open.  If you would like to make an appointment, please visit the Red Cross website to sign up today!

We will have a church work day on Saturday, February 27, at 8:00 AM.  We are working on cleaning up the downstairs area as well as doing some needed demolition in order to get ready for the renovation of the garage/basement area to be converted to the youth ministry gathering area.  We would like to serve breakfast for those in attendance, but we need to know how many will be there in order to prepare properly.  If you will be helping with this work day, please click here and sign up today!

This Sunday, we will spend time in prayer together following the morning service.  However, we will be using a bit of a different format.  Rather than making a Zoom meeting available after the service, we will broadcast the prayer service via our Facebook Live feed.  Our prayer topics will be available via the live feed as well.  Zane Patalive will lead us in this guided prayer service.  For those of us in attendance, we will split in to small groups to pray for the prayer topics together as well as for one another.

This week, we are focusing our prayers on those affected by the recent winter storms that have caused considerable damage across the country.  There are many in Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, the Carolinas and other communities across the country dealing with property damage as well as loss of life due to this storm.  Pray God provides protection for those who are dealing with property damage, for comfort for those who are dealing with the loss of loved ones, and that believers will rise to the occasion to share the love of Christ with their hurting communities in their time of need.

This week’s Right Now Media recommendation is a study called The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) taught by David Marvin.  This story gives us a clear picture of who we are, who God is, and how He is moved toward us with compassion in spite of our sin, brokenness, and rebellion.  Take time to read through this story, listen to the teaching, and reflect on the goodness of our loving and forgiving Father.  Rest in the fact that God is more concerned with your relational proximity than your religious activity.  To watch the study visit Right Now Media and type in The Prodigal Son in the search box or look for the Big Woods Bible Church link on the left side of the page once you’ve logged in.  If you need help logging in, contact Pastor Josh at or call the church office at (570) 893-8274 ext 102.

What does God think when he looks at us? We may think God is fed up with our failures and wants nothing to do with us. We may think he is disappointed in us or that he might love us more if we worked harder. But according to Jesus, God doesn’t think like that at all. The truth about God’s heart for sinners may surprise us and will certainly change our lives.
Join pastor David Marvin in this three-session series as he walks through the parable of the prodigal son to remind us that God is our loving Father. The message of Jesus’s famous parable is good news for all of us—rebels and religious people alike. No matter our history, God loves all of us and welcomes us into a relationship with him.
