This Week’s Need to Know – 02/01/2018

Solus Christus.  Christ alone.  One would think this concept would be simple.  Salvation comes from Christ alone.  However, our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked.  Our hearts long for and demand recognition.  From the beginning of time, our hearts have told us we can do it our own way.  We can be good enough.  We can do enough.  Even today, many people hope their “good” outweighs their bad and if it does, that this will be good enough to get them into heaven.  However, this is a dangerous lie.  Jesus taught that He alone is the way to eternal life.  It is in His work we trust and it is because of His righteousness that He imputes to us that we can boldly go before our heavenly Father and enjoy a transformed life this side of eternity.  Join us Sunday morning as we worship our Savior and as Pastor Tim reminds us the importance of Christ alone.

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
-Apostle Peter

We are excited to announce Denise McCormick was unanimously affirmed by the body to serve as the Church Clerk for the next two year term.  Thank you for taking the time to vote last Sunday.  We continue looking forward to God’s blessing on Big Woods as we follow His direction for us.

The Flyworld activity is next weekend.  Click the link for more info.  This is a high intensity activity involving trampolines and extreme fun, so waiver forms must be completed for each student that participates.  You can do that by clicking here and use Jump ID 91468 to access the forms for Navigate Youth Ministry.

This Sunday’s (2/4) Navigate high school weekly gathering will meet this Sunday from noon until around 2:00 PM.  Join us for pizza and a fun afternoon as we learn from the teachings of Jesus how to navigate through life.

During the upcoming Spring Break, the New Life College Ministry will be heading to Puerto Rico to work alongside the North American Mission Board to share the Gospel and provide disaster relief to citizens in Puerto Rico that are still recovering after Hurricane Maria.  You can help by praying for them as well as supporting them this Monday night (2/5) at Wendy’s in Lock Haven.  All proceeds from 4:00-8:00 PM on Monday will be donated to our mission team.  Thank you in advance for your support!
