Service through the church body is imperative for spiritual growth. Brad Waggoner in his book “The Shape of Faith to Come” says, Many churches have made the mistake of thinking that great worship services and solid educational approaches are adequate for spiritual formation. However, real growth cannot occur without service. People need to be giving of themselves. At Big Woods, we want you to grow in your faith and we would fail you as spiritual leaders if we didn’t encourage you to serve in the church and clearly direct you to service opportunities.
So, what do you do? Firstly, get to know the needs of Big Woods (a list of needs is provided below). Secondly, pray over these specific needs and ask God to show you where He wants you involved. Maybe you’re already involved. If so, pray God would work in the hearts of those that need to get involved. Thirdly, ask others where they are involved. Your encouragement may be exactly what someone needs to move from sitting to serving. You may refer anyone that is looking for an opportunity for service directly to Pastor Josh, and he will be able to connect them with ministry leaders. Thanks for your help with this. Looking forward to seeing how God provides in 2017!
