Nursery—Contact: Meisha McDermit
Nursery care is available during both Sunday morning services and during the Sunday School hour to take care of little ones, from babies up through the age of 3. At least 2 adult volunteers are required to be present during all 3 service times. For the safety of the children in our care, only approved adult volunteers and approved teen helpers are allowed to be in the nursery during Sunday mornings. This ministry is such a blessing to both the families of Big Woods and to those who volunteer to serve.
Children’s Church—Contact: Erin Owens
Children’s Church is designed to help children ages 3 to 7 grow and learn about God’s Word through singing, stories, games and crafts. This year we are using a curriculum called “Noah’s Park” which includes a puppet ministry that will be led by our teens. We are excited they are getting involved in sharing Jesus and His ways with the younger ones. If you love God’s Word and children, this is a great opportunity for you!
Children’s Ministry—Contact: Bobby & Melissa Varholak
Ministry to our children is done primarily through the Sunday school ministry. In Sunday school, we’re able to create a weekly place that is comfortable yet and exciting for them to look forward to learning from God’s Word. You can help make this a place where they can begin develop their own personal relationship with God. We need teachers, helpers, and substitutes to help us fulfill this important ministry. Pray about investing in the spiritual lives of the kids at Big Woods.
Youth Ministry—Contact: Pastor Stuart
Navigate Youth Ministry serves our 6th-12th grade students here at Big Woods. Our purpose is to form disciples with a lasting, sustaining faith in Christ. We do this by assisting parents, directly ministering to students through evangelism, and challenging our students to grow in faith and obedience to Christ. This happens in various settings; our weekly gatherings, Sunday School classes, and seasonal bible studies. Youth Ministry is a challenging and time consuming ministry, but it is a wonderful blessing if God has gifted you for it. If you love working with students, if you have a heart to minister to them in the messiness of life, this is a great place for you to be.
Special Music—Contact: Christa Hamilton
Special music is another opportunity to honor and worship our Savior. Music is a gift from God and has a unique ability to help our hearts and minds focus on the Lord and be prepared for the preaching of the Word. If you would like to learn more about this ministry, please contact Christa Hamilton today.
Home Groups—Contact: Pastor Aaron
The home group ministry is the place for you to connect with others in the body for the purpose of spiritual growth, accountability, and spiritual fellowship. Hosts use the gift of hospitality and leaders the gift of teaching all so that participants can grow together. Being in a home group is a great way to grow in love for your brothers and sisters and also serve your group as you bear one another’s burdens.
New Life College Ministry—Contact: Pastor Aaron
New Life exists as an arm of Big Woods Bible Church reaching onto the campus of Lock Haven University. Our goal is to see students make their faith their own and be faithful, lifelong followers of Jesus. You can help by inviting them to your home with meals, encouraging them in their studies as well as in their spiritual walk. If you would like to meet regularly with a college student, please let me know!
Welcome Team—Contact: Lynel Gaunt
Our Welcome Team is the first point of contact for everyone who attends our services and is the first impression of our guests. You can help by holding doors, handing out bulletins, or striking up a conversation with people you don’t recognize with the purpose of welcoming them to our church. Whether you’re outgoing or just like to serve others, you can help us make our best impression first.

Women’s Ministry—Contact: Cheryl Reeder
Women’s Ministry is to encourage, love, and serve all women both inside and outside Big Woods Bible Church through teaching the Word of God, providing fellowship, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with the goal of each person growing in Christ-likeness.
Recovery Ministry—Contact: Matt McDermit or Charlotte Conser
The Recovery ministry is a gospel-centered discipleship program that meets weekly. Meetings consist of fellowship, worship, large group instruction, small group share and prayer times. It is a safe place to share struggles, hurts, hang ups, hear the gospel, be held accountable and encouraged. There is an immediate need for mature believers to come alongside those in the Recovery ministry in a discipleship relationship. This ministry is also in need of child care during the Thursday night meetings.
