This Week's Need to Know!
THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “Enoch Walked
with God, and He was Not, for God Took Him” Genesis
5:1-24
Taught
by: Pastor Tim Boger
SUNDAY
SCHOOL CLASSES
Grounded in the Faith: This class
will dive into what we believe and why we believe it. It is so important for us
to know, as believers, because they do have practical implications for our
everyday lives. This week’s class will focus on a Life of Prayer and will be
taught by Pastor Aaron. (Classroom 4)
Real Life Discipleship: As
believers, we read in Matthew 28 that we are to make disciples of all nations.
This class will help us as we dive into what a disciple is and how to make
disciples, ministering to those around us as they walk with the Lord. Join
Pastor Robbie as teaches the next section this Sunday. (Classroom 1)
Genesis Q&A: As we go through Genesis in our
Sunday Morning Worship time, questions may arise. This class will be formatted
as a question and answer time where the questions that you have can be
submitted on Sunday and discussed during Sunday School. There will be a QR code
on your bulletin on Sunday Morning that you can scan and then submit your
questions anonymously. After the service, during Sunday School we will sit down
and dialogue through your questions together, diving deeper into God’s Word. Be
sure to submit your questions on Sunday and join Pastor Tim after the
service. (MPR)
SUNDAY LUNCHES FOR YOUNG
ADULTS/FAMILIES
The young adults and
families are invited out to the Nauta’s home (333 S Fairview Street, Lock Haven)
after church this week for a time of fellowship. Lunch is not provided this
week. If you have any questions, contact the church office!
MEN’S GARAGE MINISTRY
Tonight, Thursday, May 4th at 6:00 p.m., all men will be invited to meet at the
garage of Dave Frankenberger (1930 Long Run Road, Mill Hall). Men, grab a
chair and come prepared to talk shop and tackle life’s challenges, while
building on the strengths of your brothers in Christ.
MEN’S CAMPFIRE
Men’s
Ministry is hosting a campfire here at the church on Saturday May 6th at
6:00pm. We will be roasting hotdogs, having fellowship, some yard games and
spiritual encouragement from Eugene Beyer. Bring a favorite yard game if you’d
like and a lawn chair or two, and don’t forget to INVITE your FRIENDS! Hotdogs
and roasting sticks will be provided. The campfire will be just beyond the
youth room parking lot in the grove of pines. Please contact the church if you
have any questions. To hear more about this event, please click here!
MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT
Next week we will have the pleasure of
hearing from a missionary couple that we support here at Big Woods, Phillip and
Bea Schuring who are doing ministry in Brazil. They will speak for a few
moments during the Sunday morning service and then again after the service
during the Sunday School hour. So, be sure to stick around after the service to
hear from them!
MIDNIGHT PANCAKES
Next
month, NewLife will be hosting Midnight Pancakes during finals
week at LHU. Many of you have helped in the past and know that this is a great
way to connect with students and minister to them as they finish up the school
year. This semester, we will be at the Student Rec Center on campus Tuesday,
May 9th to serve the students pancakes from 11pm-1am. We need
both ingredients and supplies to make the event happen, as well as volunteers
to cook pancakes, serve pancakes, and most importantly, talk to college
students! If you would be willing to help out by either donating materials or
volunteering on May 9th, please fill out the form here!
ADVENTURES IN MOTHERHOOD
AIM will be meeting the second Thursday of every month from
10:30am – 12:00pm at the church. Childcare and refreshments will be provided.
The last day this Spring will be May 11th. To volunteer for
childcare, please email Jillian Best at jbest@ibcwen.net
WOMEN’S PRAYER MEETING
The next Ladies’ Prayer
Gathering will be Saturday, May 13th, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Come
and be blessed by yet another personal story of a life saved by faith in the
finished work of Jesus Christ. Saturday prayer is an intimate time of blessing
and joy…and even includes coffee and sweets!
PRAYER GATHERING
Join
us on Wednesday, May 17th at 6:30 p.m. for our next
Prayer Gathering. Our
prayer gatherings will be every other Wednesday and will be one of the ways we
can bear one another’s burdens as we seek to faithfully follow Jesus together.
MEN’S SOFTBALL
In
mid-May, Pastor Robbie is aiming to hold softball practices for this summer’s
softball league. Starting in June, games will be played on Sunday afternoons,
and we will have practices once a week! Please let Pastor Robbie know if you
are interested in playing or have any questions.
BOOK OF THE MONTH "Can We Trust the Gospels" by Peter J. Williams is the May book of the month! This book looks at multiple different sources trying to prove that the events and information in the Gospels is trustworthy and that they actually did happen. This book is a great tool for you to be able to fully trust God’s Word and it could be a good tool to help you proclaim the Gospel and defend it to those that you come in contact with.
