This Week's Need to Know!
THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “My Punishment
is Greater than I Can Bear”
Genesis
4:8-16
Taught
by: Pastor Tim Boger
SUNDAY
SCHOOL CLASSES
Grounded in the Faith: This class
will dive into what we believe and why we believe it. It is so important for us
to know, as believers, because they do have practical implications for our
everyday lives. This week’s class will focus on the Great Value of Prayer and
will be taught by Pastor Aaron. (Classroom 4)
Real Life Discipleship: As
believers, we read in Matthew 28 that we are to make disciples of all nations.
This class will help us as we dive into what a disciple is and how to make
disciples, ministering to those around us as they walk with the Lord. Join
Pastor Robbie as teaches the next section this Sunday. (Classroom 1)
Genesis Q&A: As we go through Genesis in our
Sunday Morning Worship time, questions may arise. This class will be formatted
as a question and answer time where the questions that you have can be
submitted on Sunday and discussed during Sunday School. There will be a QR code
on your bulletin on Sunday Morning that you can scan and then submit your
questions anonymously. After the service, during Sunday School we will sit down
and dialogue through your questions together, diving deeper into God’s Word. Be
sure to submit your questions on Sunday and join Pastor Tim after the
service. (MPR)
SUNDAY LUNCHES FOR YOUNG
ADULTS/FAMILIES
The young adults and families
are invited out to the Zembower’s home (225 Susquehanna Ave, Lock Haven) after
church this week for a time of fellowship. Lunch is not provided this week. If
you have any questions, contact the church office!
SECRET CHURCH
Secret
Church is an international
simulcast done every year by David Platt and his organization, Radical.
Navigate and New Life students have been involved for many years and would love
for you to join in on the fun! Come out tomorrow, Friday, April 21 from
approximately 7:00 p.m. until midnight. This year’s series will go through the
entire book of Jonah! Jonah is one of the best-known books of the Bible. But
beyond the fascinating story of a fish swallowing a man, you will find the
challenging account of God’s most unwilling prophet and how, often, we, like
Jonah, choose our own comfort over God’s mission. But Jesus shows us a better
way. Together we will learn how the gospel drives us to make disciples, not
just of people who look and think like us—but of all nations, even those we
would consider our enemies. There is no cost to participate! For those planning
to attend, please enter the church by the front or back doors and head down to
the youth center.
WORKDAY
We are having another workday! On April 29th from 8am – 12pm, Men’s
Ministry will be cooking up breakfast and hosting another productive morning of
service at the church. As we seek to steward our church property, we are going
to apply a layer of topsoil on a few spots around the property. If you have any
questions, feel free to reach out. Please sign up here!
PRAYER GATHERING
Join us on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 p.m. for our next Prayer
Gathering. Our prayer
gatherings will be every other Wednesday and will be one of the ways we can
bear one another’s burdens as we seek to faithfully follow Jesus together.
There will be a potluck before that starts at 5:30pm.
MEN’S GARAGE MINISTRY
On Thursday, May 4th at 6:00 p.m., all men will be invited to meet at the
garage of Dave Frankenberger (1930 Long Run Road, Mill Hall). Men, grab a
chair and come prepared to talk shop and tackle life’s challenges, while
building on the strengths of your brothers in Christ.
MEN’S CAMPFIRE
Men mark your calendars! Men’s
Ministry is hosting a campfire here at the church on Saturday May 6th at
6:00pm. More information to come!
MIDNIGHT PANCAKES
Next
month, NewLife will be hosting Midnight Pancakes during finals
week at LHU. Many of you have helped in the past and know that this is a great
way to connect with students and minister to them as they finish up the school
year. This semester, we will be at the Student Rec Center on campus Tuesday,
May 9th to serve the students pancakes from 11pm-1am. We need
both ingredients and supplies to make the event happen, as well as volunteers
to cook pancakes, serve pancakes, and most importantly, talk to
college students! If you would be willing to help out by either donating
materials or volunteering on May 9th, please fill out the form here!
ADVENTURES IN MOTHERHOOD
AIM will be meeting the second Thursday of every month from
10:30am – 12:00pm at the church. Childcare and refreshments will be provided.
The last day this Spring will be May 11th. To volunteer for
childcare, please email Jillian Best at jbest@ibcwen.net
WOMEN’S PRAYER MEETING
The next Ladies’ Prayer
Gathering will be Saturday, May 13th, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Come
and be blessed by yet another personal story of a life saved by faith in the
finished work of Jesus Christ. Saturday prayer is an intimate time of blessing
and joy…and even includes coffee and sweets!
MEN’S SOFTBALL
In
mid-May, Pastor Robbie is aiming to hold softball practices for this summer’s
softball league. Starting in June, games will be played on Sunday afternoons,
and we will have practices once a week! Please let Pastor Robbie know if you
are interested in playing or have any questions.
