This Week's Need to Know!
Spiritual Warfare: It is easy to allow many sources to define ones understanding of spiritual warfare which can leave you living in constant dread and fear. Today, more than ever, Christians needs to understand what the Word of God teaches and how we can trust in the truth, and ultimately the victory, He promises.
THIS WEEK’S TEXT:
“Safe in the Battle – Part II” Ephesians 6:10-20
Taught by: Pastor Tim Boger
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
There are no sign ups for this round
of Sunday School Classes, just show up!
The Attributes of God: Misconceptions
about God abound. But they do not have to. God has revealed His character in
Scripture, illuminating the attributes that define Him. While we, being finite
creatures, can never truly comprehend everything that God is, we should study
what He Himself has said. This week’s class is being led by Pastor Aaron (Classroom 1)
Mama Bear Apologetics: Empowering
Your Kids to Challenge Cultural Lies:
This class is intended for all women; you do not have to be a mother to benefit
from it! There is no denying that today's youth are leaving the church in
droves. We do not live in a culturally Christian society. In fact, we live in a
society that is increasingly hostile toward Christianity. Whether you use
public school, Christian school, or homeschool, your kids will be exposed to
various philosophies and worldviews that are contrary to Christianity.
Come to this class to learn about some of the loudest lies culture is screaming
at your kids and how to approach their questions.
This class will be taught
by a group of ladies who are mothers in varying ages, stages, and styles,
but we all recognize the importance of training the next generation to be
critical thinkers and challenge cultural lies. This week’s topic is Progressivism
led by Jillian Best (Classroom 4)
2 Thessalonians: While We
Wait: The elders will be
team-teaching this book in the sanctuary. We will focus on what it looks like
to live as Christians "while we wait" for the return of Jesus. How
should that affect our daily lives? Join us as we consider God's word together
"while we wait" for the return of Jesus! This week’s class is focused
on 2 Thessalonians 2:13-16 led by Pastor Tim. (Sanctuary)
SUNDAY LUNCHES FOR YOUNG ADULTS/FAMILIES
The young adults and families are invited out to the Nauta’s
(333 S. Fairview Street, Lock Haven) after church this week for a time of
fellowship. Lunch is not provided this week! If you have any questions, contact
Stuart at 717-517-6523.
WORSHIP
IN THE WOODS
It’s
that time of year again! Starting in December, every Friday and Saturday night
from 6-9pm, we will be playing through a display of lights. There will be light
refreshments offered as you drive into the parking lot and are parked to watch
the show. The show will be begin at 6pm and will run every 30 minutes! To sign
up to help with this event, please click here!
WOMEN’S PRAYER MEETING
The
Ladies’ Prayer Gathering for December will be Saturday, December 10th,
from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Come and be blessed by yet another personal story of a
life saved by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Saturday prayer is an
intimate time of blessing and joy…and even includes coffee and sweets!
ADVENT SERVICE
There will be an Advent
Worship Service on Wednesday December 14th from 6:30-7:30pm. We will celebrate
the Advent Season together through candle lighting, scripture reading, and
singing. We will walk through each of the traditional Advent candles, hear its
meaning, associated scripture, and sing a related song. Come out to prepare
your heart and celebrate the hope that has come. This would be a good
opportunity to invite friends, family, or neighbors who do not ordinarily
attend church, but may be interested in celebrating this piece of the Christmas
season.
ADVENTURES IN MOTHERHOOD
Adventures in
Motherhood, AIM, is a faith-based ministry for moms of children ages 0-18
to come connect, grow, and fellowship together. Motherhood is wonderful
but comes with unique challenges and can be isolating at times. Christian moms
are called to bear one another’s burdens and consider who to stir one another
up to love and good works. This is what we hope to do through this ministry- to
provide a community to grow and be encouraged in our role as faithful Christian
mothers. The group will meet every other Thursday, alternating mornings
(10:30a-12:00p) and evenings (7:00-8:30p). Morning meetings will have childcare
provided. If you have any questions, please reach out to
our AIM coordinators, Jillian Best, jbest@ibcweb.net, and Cheyenne Redcay, cskinner2015@gmail.com
The next AIM
meeting is December 15th, 10:30am-12:00 noon. Childcare is provided
this week.
CHRISTMAS EVE
SERVICE
This year’s
Christmas Eve Service will be held on December 24th from
6:00pm-7:00pm here at Big Woods Bible Church. In this season, pause for a
moment to remember the miraculous birth of our perfect Savior! The Lord has
given us his only Son knowing that he would take the place on the cross for our
sins. Praise Him!
MEN’S GARAGE MINISTRY
On Thursday, January 5 at
6:00 p.m., all men will be invited to meet at the garage of Dave Frankenberger
(1930 Long Run Road, Mill Hall). Men, grab a chair and come prepared to
talk shop and tackle life’s challenges, while building on the strengths of your
brothers in Christ.
BAPTISM
There will be a baptism on Sunday, January 8. If you are interested in being baptized, please
