This Week's Need to Know

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “The Local Church – Privileged to Pray Together”  Romans 15:30-33
Taught by:  Pastor Tim Boger

There are no sign ups for this round of Sunday School Classes, just show up!
Pure in Heart: This class will work to help men wrestle through the reality of sexual sins while also focusing on the promises of God. Understanding the power of the Holy Spirit and the intercessory work of Jesus on our behalf will allow believers to encourage one another as the body of Christ, seeking to be holy. This Sunday’s topic will be: Helping Others Home led by Pastor Aaron. (Classroom 1)
Mama Bear Apologetics: This class is for not only moms, but for all women. Join a group of ladies as they seek to understand how to empower kids to challenge the cultural lies of this world. God has given moms and women the responsibility to speak biblical truths to their children so that they can be holy, just as He is holy.  (Classroom 4)
God Given: God’s Plan for Gender and Sexuality: We live in a world that is deeply confused about sexuality and gender. As Christians, we have an opportunity to speak truth on these subjects that are vitally important to our lives and identity. Over the next 8 weeks, we are tackling these questions through "God Given: God's Plan for Gender & Sexuality". Through this Sunday School class, we will look at the biblical origins of gender & sexuality, as well as discuss their purposes as God intended them. Finally, we will examine how the world has erred on these subjects, and how Christians should respond. This class will be taught by Pastor Stuart. (Sanctuary)
New Members Class: Our last round of this Fall’s class will be this Sunday, taught by Zane and Sandy Patalive.  (Classroom 3)

Every other Wednesday evening the Elders meet for several hours to pray for the body and seek wisdom as they strive to lead and shepherd the body at Big Woods according to the Word of God.  Last evening some of the pressing needs and prayer points that they are asking for you to pray alongside them can be found here.

The young adults and families are invited out to the Nauta’s (333 S. Fairview Street, Lock Haven) after church this week for lunch and time together. Lunch is not provided this week so please bring your own lunch this week. If you have any questions, contact Stuart at 717-517-6523.

Grief Share is a 13-week group aimed to help you face the challenges of grief after losing a loved one. If you are interested in joining us, you can still sign up and register by contacting Wendy Boger at  Sign up link:

Here at Big Woods, we value the safety of our children and youth. Therefore, to serve in these ministries, volunteers need to complete three different clearances. We understand that this process can be tricky to navigate so after church Sunday, October 2nd we will have laptops set up in the lobby with a few helpers nearby so that we can help make this clearance process go smoothly. If you are interested in serving in Children or Youth Ministry, please stop by after church so that we can help you fill out your clearance paperwork! If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Stuart at 717-517-6523
