This Week's Need to Know
THIS
WEEK’S TEXT: “CHRIST
– Our Absolute Hope” Romans 15:8-13
Taught by: Pastor Tim
Boger
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Shepherding a Child's Heart: Sunday’s
topic will be: Embracing Biblical Methods: Communication .
This class will be led by Pastor Aaron. (Classroom 1)
Young adults
- Mark: Robbie Mays, Isaac Brady, and Branden Zembower will be leading a
discussion through the gospel of Mark to help us understand what God's Word
says and how it applies to our lives. (Church Conference Room)
Theology of Technology: Technology
is the most rapidly shifting area of society. The iPhone was first released 15
years ago but has dramatically changed our relationships, society, and even the
way we spend our personal time. New technology, new devices, and new apps seem
to spring up every day. So, what are we to do? For 8 weeks, we will be looking
at the technology that is changing our lives, its benefits, and downfalls, and
most importantly how we as Christians need to respond in a way that honors an
eternal God. This class will be led by Pastor Stuart. (Classroom
3)
Summer Psalms with the elders:
This week’s class will be on Psalm 22 taught by Kenny Hall. (Sanctuary)
SUNDAY LUNCHES FOR
YOUNG ADULTS/FAMILIES

and families are invited out to the Redcay’s (138 Main Street, Beech Creek)

MEN'S SOFTBALL
Come support our softball team Sunday
afternoons at Peddie Park (912 Renovo Road, Mill Hall)! We play every
Sunday afternoon during the summer from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and would love to see
you there. This is a great time to get to know other families in our
community and even just hang out with others in the church. Bring snacks
and drinks, or even a grill to cookout during the games! We hope to see you out
there!
SUMMER BACKYARD
BBQ
Our next backyard
BBQ will be held on Tuesday, August 30 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Tom
and Elva Stover (93 Butler Lane, Mill Hall). Bring a meat, a chair, and a
dish to share. The BBQ will be cancelled if it rains.

PRAYER
GATHERING
Join us on Wednesday, September 7 at 6:30 p.m. for our next Prayer
Gathering. This prayer gathering will be every other
Wednesday and will be one of the ways we can bear one another’s burdens as we
seek to faithfully follow Jesus together.
We will gather at 5:30 p.m. for a potluck (pending completion of the
Multi-Purpose Room)
WOMEN’S
PRAYER MEETING
Please join us as
we gather for a time of fellowship and prayer on Saturday, September 10 at 9:00

BWBC NEW MEMBER’S CLASS
The BWBC Membership Class is a four-week
class that is scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 11, during the Sunday
School hour and will meet in the Conference Room. If you are interested
in attending this class, please call the church office at 570-893-8274 or
complete a Communication Card (located in the back of the chairs in the
sanctuary) and place it in one of the offering boxes at the back of the
sanctuary.
HOME GROUPS
Here at Big Woods, one of the ways we seek to
keep our growing body small is through home groups. Home groups are small
groups of people meeting in homes, encouraging one another in their walk with
Christ by talking about the Bible and praying for one another. Like last year,
home groups will meet every other week. We plan to start meeting the week of September 11th. Please sign up [by clicking] here or by placing your name on the sign-up sheet in the back of
the sanctuary. For more information about Home Groups, click here to watch a video
TEACHING LAB
In Ephesians 4:11, we learn that God has
given the church teachers to build up the body of Christ. Teaching lab exists
to help us find those whom God has given to our body. If you would like to
learn about teaching and have the opportunity to teach in a setting that
provides feedback to see if God has gifted you to serve in this way, join us
Monday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m. here at the church in Classroom 1.
