This Week's Need to Know
THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “CHRIST - The
Ultimate Example” Romans 15:1-7
Taught by: Pastor Tim Boger
SUNDAY SCHOOL
CLASSES
Shepherding
a Child's Heart: Sunday’s
topic will be: Discarding Unbiblical Methods. This class will be led by
Pastor Aaron. (Classroom 1)
Young
adults
- Mark: Robbie Mays, Isaac Brady, and Branden Zembower will be leading a
discussion through the gospel of Mark to help us understand what God's Word
says and how it applies to our lives. (Church Conference Room)
Theology
of Technology: Technology
is the most rapidly shifting area of society. The iPhone was first released 15
years ago but has dramatically changed our relationships, society, and even the
way we spend our personal time. New technology, new devices, and new apps seem
to spring up every day. So what are we to do? For 8 weeks, we will be looking at
the technology that is changing our lives, its benefits, and downfalls, and
most importantly how we as Christians need to respond in a way that honors an
eternal God. This class will be led by Pastor Stuart. (Classroom
3)
Summer
Psalms with the elders:
This week’s class will be on Psalm 34 taught by Matt McDermit (Sanctuary)
SUNDAY LUNCHES FOR YOUNG ADULTS/FAMILIES
The young adults and families are invited out to the
Redcay’s (138 Main Street, Beech Creek) after church this week for lunch and
time together. Each family is asked to bring their own lunch. Please
contact Pastor Stuart at 717-517-6523 if you have any questions!
MEN'S SOFTBALL
Come
support our softball team Sunday afternoons at Peddie Park (912 Renovo
Road, Mill Hall)! We play every Sunday afternoon during the summer from 2:00 –
4:00 p.m. and would love to see you there. This is a great time to get to
know other families in our community and even just hang out with others in the
church. Bring snacks and drinks, or even a grill to cookout during the
games! We hope to see you out there!
SUMMER BACKYARD BBQ
Our next backyard BBQ will be held on Tuesday, August
23 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Tim and Erin Owens (1111 Sugar Run Road,
Mill Hall). Bring a meat, a chair, and a dish to share. Some things to
look forward to: a sweet corn roast,
s’mores, home-made ice cream and games!)
PRAYER GATHERING
Join
us on Wednesday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. for our next Prayer Gathering. This prayer
gathering will be every other Wednesday and will be one of the ways we can bear
one another’s burdens as we seek to faithfully follow Jesus together.
GRIEF
SHARE
Grief Share is a 13-week group to help you face the
challenges of grief after losing a loved one. During the sessions, we will
focus on the hope and healing that is found in the truth offered through
gospel. If you are interested in joining us, please register for the fall
session starting Tuesday, September 6th (link below). Any questions, feel free

CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRY MOVE UP

grade at the end of the summer. On Sunday, September 4, we will be welcoming
students into their new Sunday School classrooms and into Navigate Youth
Ministry.
WOMEN’S PRAYER MEETING
Please join us as
we gather for a time of fellowship and prayer on Saturday, September 10 at 9:00
a.m. here at the church.
BWBC NEW MEMBER’S CLASS
The BWBC Membership Class is a four-week class that is
scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 11, during the Sunday School hour and
will meet in the Conference Room. If you are interested in attending this
class, please call the church office at 570-893-8274 or complete a
Communication Card (located in the back of the chairs in the sanctuary) and
place it in one of the offering boxes at the back of the sanctuary.
HOME
GROUPS
Here at Big Woods, one of the ways we seek to keep our
growing body small is through home groups. Home groups are small groups of
people meeting in homes, encouraging one another in their walk with Christ by
talking about the Bible and praying for one another. Like last year, home groups will meet every other week. We
plan to start meeting the week of September 11th. Please sign up
[by clicking] here.
MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM CLOSURE
The renovation project in the MPR is still
underway. We expect the room to be
re-opened by the end of August. Thank
you for your understanding and patience!
