This Week's Need to Know!

This Week's Need to Know!

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “Melchizedek, Priest of God Most Hight” Genesis 14:17-24
Taught by: Pastor Tim Boger

Following Jesus: How Do I Live as a Christian? In this class, we will be looking at the practical ways that we can follow after Jesus. Join Pastor Aaron in Classroom 3 as he leads this week.
Genesis Q&A: This class will be formatted as a question and answer time where the questions that you have can be submitted on Sunday and discussed during Sunday School. There will be a QR code on your bulletin on Sunday Morning that you can scan and then submit your questions anonymously. After the service, during Sunday School we will sit down and dialogue through your questions together, diving deeper into God’s Word. Be sure to submit your questions on Sunday and join Pastor Tim after the service. (MPR)

NewLife is looking for families/individuals to Adopt-a-Student for this spring semester. We are looking for families who can invest in a student in some way at least once a month. This could look different based on the family and student, but some ideas are going out for dinner, going to see a movie, having a game night, sending a card/muffin basket; feel free to get creative! If you are interested in ministering and connecting in this way, please fill out the form here and Pastor Robbie will connect you with a student as they sign up!

The Habakkuk Women’s Study is running every Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. (childcare provided at the morning meeting). They are reading through the book verse by verse studying how Habakkuk discovers how God is faithful to deliver his people from trouble in His own way and time. Sign up for the study by clicking here! If you’d like to volunteer to help with childcare, please click here!

Grief Share will be running every Tuesday evening at the church starting at 6:45 p.m. in Classroom 2. During the sessions, we will focus on the hope and healing that is found in the truth offered through gospel. If you are interested in joining us, sign up by clicking here!

This week’s service will be staring at 6:30 p.m. We look forward to this time as we get to sing, study, encourage and pray with one another.

Our next Garage Guys will be on Thursday, February 1st at 6:00 p.m. All men will be invited to meet at the garage of Dave Frankenberger (1930 Long Run Road, Mill Hall).  Men, grab a chair and come prepared to talk shop and tackle life’s challenges, while building on the strengths of your brothers in Christ.

The next Ladies’ Prayer Gathering will be Saturday, February 10th, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Come and be blessed by yet another personal story of a life saved by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Saturday prayer is an intimate time of blessing and joy…and even includes coffee and sweets!

On February 10th starting at 9:00 a.m., we will be having a workday for a few projects at the church. We are looking for 10-15 volunteers to help tear down the Display of Lights and rearrange different rooms at the church. If you have any questions, please email and if you are interested in serving, please fill out the form here so that we know how many are coming.

Big Woods is having a Baby Dedication on February 25th during the Sunday morning service. Baby Dedication is a time for parents who understand each child is a gift from the Lord and has been given a responsibility to raise them “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). This is a wonderful opportunity to publicly commit to the Lord and your church family that you will faithfully do that. If you are interested in making this commitment with your child(ren), please fill out the form here or email

Praise God for a successful first meeting of Bibles and Breakfast! The group will plan to meet next on February 29th at 7AM at Restless Oaks to eat breakfast while studying God’s Word learning how to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18).

January’s Book of the Month is “In the Lord I Take Refuge” which invites readers to experience the Psalms in a new way through heartfelt devotional content and is written by Dane Ortlund. Each reading is short enough to read in five minutes or less and will encourage believers to thoughtfully ponder and pray through each of the 150 Psalms. The Psalms could be called the Bible’s devotional. Each psalm reflects on the greatness of who God is and how he cares for his people. Written with profound emotion, each psalm sheds light on the raw experiences of the human heart, revealing how God’s people should turn to him in times of anguish, pain, remorse, joy, and thanksgiving.
