This Week's Need to Know!

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “So God Dispersed Them” Genesis 11
Taught by: Pastor Robbie Mays

The next round of Sunday School Classes starts THIS week on November 26th!
Following Jesus: How Do I Live as a Christian? Pastor Aaron will be teaching this class in Classroom 2/3 looking at the practical ways that we can follow after Jesus as believers.
Broken Bread: How to Stop Using Food and Fear to Fill Spiritual Hunger: This women's Sunday School class will be taught by Brianna Batdorf in Classroom 4 as she teaches through this book. We will study a theology of food so that we can stop using food and fear to fuel our spiritual hunger.
Genesis Q&A: This class will be formatted as a question and answer time where the questions that you have can be submitted on Sunday and discussed during Sunday School. There will be a QR code on your bulletin on Sunday Morning that you can scan and then submit your questions anonymously. After the service, during Sunday School we will sit down and dialogue through your questions together, diving deeper into God’s Word. Be sure to submit your questions on Sunday and join Pastor Tim after the service. (MPR)

That's a wrap on Operation Christmas Child 2023! Thank you again to everyone who volunteered for a drop off shift, packed a shoebox, and/or prayed for this ministry. Big Woods Bible Church packed a total of 241 shoeboxes! We exceeded our goal of 200 and we are so grateful for that. The grand total of shoeboxes collected at our drop off was 2,485. That means 2,485 children around the world will hear the Gospel message. Praise God!
Thank you again, church, for supporting this ministry. We are so excited for OCC 2024!
Love, Sarah Kopas

Grief Share is a 13-week group that will be running every Tuesday evening at 6:45pm from September 12th – December 12th. Grief Share aims to help you face the challenges of grief after losing a loved one. During the sessions, we will focus on the hope and healing that is found in the truth offered through gospel. If you are interested in joining us, you can still sign up by clicking here!

There will be an Advent Worship Service on Wednesday November 29th from 6:30-7:30pm. We will celebrate the beginning of the Advent Season together through candle lighting, scripture reading, and singing. We will walk through each of the traditional Advent candles, hear its meaning, associated scripture, and sing a related song. Come out to prepare your heart and celebrate the hope that has come. This would be a good opportunity to invite friends, family, or neighbors who do not ordinarily attend church, but may be interested in celebrating this piece of the Christmas season. To listen to the songs for that evening, please click here!

It's almost Christmas and time for the Light Display! We are looking for cookie bakers, friendly faces to serve cookies and hot chocolate, and assistance with parking and security. The light display runs every Friday and Saturday night in December from 6pm-9pm. To sign up to serve, please click the link here!

"A Praying Church: Becoming a People of Hope in a Discouraging World" by Paul Miller is a compelling guide that delves into the essential role of prayer within the church community. Miller passionately advocates for transforming congregations into vibrant, prayerful communities. With profound insight and practical wisdom, this book emphasizes the necessity of a deep, authentic prayer life in every aspect of church ministry, leadership, and congregational unity. Offering a rich blend of theological foundation and real-life examples, Miller encourages churches to foster a culture of fervent prayer, fostering spiritual growth and a deeper connection with God. "A Praying Church" is a valuable resource for pastors, church leaders, and members seeking to enrich their understanding and practice of prayer in the context of the church.
