This Week's Need to Know!

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “Jesus, Our Wisdom” 1 Corinthians 1:30
Guest Speaker: Jareb McClain

The Big Woods Mission Team invites you to Mission Sunday, October 1st. Our goal is to present our current involvement with missions and to learn about cultures from around the world. Current missionary, Jareb McClain, is our speaker.  We will have food samples from different countries during Sunday School for you to enjoy as well as other activities.

On September 30th from 8am – 12pm, Men’s Ministry will be cooking up breakfast and hosting another productive workday here at the church. As we seek to steward our church property, we are going to paint around different areas of the church, install baseboard, build a shelf for the youth room, repair holes in walls, wash windows, and so much more! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Please sign up here!

Our next Garage Night will be, Thursday, October 5th at 6:00 p.m., where all men will be invited to meet at the garage of Dave Frankenberger (1930 Long Run Road, Mill Hall).  Men, grab a chair and come prepared to talk shop and tackle life’s challenges, while building on the strengths of your brothers in Christ

Every other Wednesday evening the Elders meet for several hours to pray for the body and seek wisdom as they strive to lead and shepherd the body at Big Woods according to the Word of God. Here are some of the pressing needs and prayer points that they are asking you to pray alongside them. They can be found here!

Grief Share is a 13-week group that will be running every Tuesday evening at 6:45pm from September 12th – December 5th. Grief Share aims to help you face the challenges of grief after losing a loved one. During the sessions, we will focus on the hope and healing that is found in the truth offered through gospel. If you are interested in joining us, you can still sign up by clicking here!

As you heard this past Sunday, we are going to be gathering every Wednesday evening starting at 6:30pm. We are looking forward to this time as we get to sing, study, encourage and pray together.

Please consider hosting a dinner, attending a dinner or both!  Signup online here or using the paper signup at the back of the sanctuary.  Want to attend a dinner? How many people will you be bringing?  Want to host a dinner?  How many people can you host?  This is a GREAT way to meet new people in the church and break bread together in fellowship!

We look forward to having an amazing light display again this year, but in order to do that, we need to start getting some things ready. Travis Best is looking for 3-4 families who are willing to help with this project. If you are interested or have any questions, please call, or text Travis at (570) 279-1746

Mark your calendars for this year’s Fall Fest happening on October 28th from 1pm-3pm! We are looking for volunteers to decorate their trunks, pass out candy, oversee games, inflatables, and a temporary tattoo station. You can sign up to help by clicking here!

For the month of September, we are recommending two books! The World-Tilting Gospel: Embracing a Biblical Worldview and Hanging on Tight will help you know more clearly and simply the gospel message so that you can share it more easily. Broken Bread: How to Stop Using Food and Fear to Fill Spiritual Hunger will help you find your satisfaction in Christ alone, not the blessing God has given us. These books are also the basis for two of our four Sunday School classes through October. Find them and many other great books available on the bookshelf!
