This Week's Need to Know!

This Week's Need to Know!

THIS WEEK’S TEXT: “The Lord Saw that the Wickedness of Man was Great in the Earth” Genesis 6:1-8
Taught by: Pastor Tim Boger

We will have four new Sunday School classes starting this Sunday, September 10!
Membership Matters: This class will be taught by Pastor Aaron in our new Classroom 2/3. If you are interested in Membership at Big Woods, please sign up by clicking here!
Proclaiming the True Gospel: This class will be taught by Mark Loewen in Classroom 1 as he teaches through the topic of evangelism alongside the book, "The World Tilting Gospel." We aim to study the True Gospel of Jesus Christ so that we can share it with anyone and everyone that we encounter.
Broken Bread: How to Stop Using Food and Fear to Fill Spiritual Hunger: This women's Sunday School class will be taught by Brianna Batdorf in Classroom 4 as she teaches through this book. We will study a theology of food so that we can stop using food and fear to fuel our spiritual hunger.
Genesis Q&A: This class will be formatted as a question and answer time where the questions that you have can be submitted on Sunday and discussed during Sunday School. There will be a QR code on your bulletin on Sunday Morning that you can scan and then submit your questions anonymously. After the service, during Sunday School we will sit down and dialogue through your questions together, diving deeper into God’s Word. Be sure to submit your questions on Sunday and join Pastor Tim after the service. (MPR)

It’s that time of year again! If you are interested in attending a homegroup, please sign up in the link here or on the paper copy in the back of the sanctuary. Home groups are one of the ways that we seek to connect people together at Big Woods. Some groups meet weekly, others every other week, and we even have some that meet once a month!

Our next Garage Night will be TONIGHT, Thursday, September 7th at 6:00 p.m., where all men will be invited to meet at the garage of Dave Frankenberger (1930 Long Run Road, Mill Hall).  Men, grab a chair and come prepared to talk shop and tackle life’s challenges, while building on the strengths of your brothers in Christ

The next Ladies’ Prayer Gathering will be Saturday, September 9th, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Come and be blessed by yet another personal story of a life saved by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Saturday prayer is an intimate time of blessing and joy…and even includes coffee and sweets!

Grief Share is a 13-week group that will be running every Tuesday evening at 6:45pm from September 12th – December 5th. Grief Share aims to help you face the challenges of grief after losing a loved one. During the sessions, we will focus on the hope and healing that is found in the truth offered through gospel. If you are interested in joining us, you can still sign up by clicking here! ADVENTURES IN MOTHERHOOD Adventures in Motherhood (AIM) is back this fall! AIM is for moms of children ages 0-18 and will meet the 2nd Thursday of the month, beginning on September 14th. Meetings will be Thursdays 10:30am-12:00pm and 6:30pm-8:00pm. Big Woods is hosting a free Protect the Flock training on September 23rd from 8:30am - 12pm. This training seeks to equip our church to care for those within and around our body. If you are interested in attending or want to know more, please reach out to the church office by emailing

On September 30th from 8am – 12pm, Men’s Ministry will be cooking up breakfast and hosting another productive workday here at the church. As we seek to steward our church property, we are going to paint around different areas of the church, install baseboard, build a shelf for the youth room, repair holes in walls, wash windows, and so much more! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Please sign up here!

Please consider hosting a dinner, attending a dinner or both!  Signup online here or using the paper signup at the back of the sanctuary through the month of August.  Want to attend a dinner? How many people will you be bringing?  Want to host a dinner?  How many people can you host?  This is a GREAT way to meet new people in the church and break bread together in fellowship!

The Big Woods Mission Team invites you to Mission Sunday, October 1st. Our goal is to present our current involvement with missions and to learn about cultures from around the world. Current missionary, Jareb McClain, is our speaker.  We will have food samples from different countries during Sunday School for you to enjoy as well as other activities.

Mark your calendars for this year’s Fall Fest happening on October 28th from 1pm-3pm! We are looking for volunteers to decorate their trunks, pass out candy, oversee games, inflatables, and a temporary tattoo station. You can sign up to help by clicking here!

For the month of September, we are recommending two books! The World-Tilting Gospel: Embracing a Biblical Worldview and Hanging on Tight will help you know more clearly and simply the gospel message so that you can share it more easily. Broken Bread: How to Stop Using Food and Fear to Fill Spiritual Hunger will help you find your satisfaction in Christ alone, not the blessing God has given us. These books are also the basis for two of our four Sunday School classes through October. Find them and many other great books available on the bookshelf!
